It was the first Cultural Festival performance ever for South Hornby in history. We performed 6th in line in front of hundreds of people, schools and family members and the judges.
There were more than 500 people there, including the performing groups. We got to watch 4 schools then we had to go out front to get our piu piu on. The girls had to put makeup on and lipstick. Girls had feathers in their hair.
Finally, we went backstage. I was so nervous. Then it was our time to shine. We went on stage and performed.
Our first song was purerehua with the poi. I was in the front row. Then we did the haka. Labron lead the Haka. He has a strong voice and he is the boy leader. Also girls did the Haka as well. They did the actions for the Haka but we didn't slap our chest like the boys . After that we did a song called Hoki Mai. The boys held up crosses because it was a song about boys going to war.
Finally we sang Hallelujah the very last song we all sang together then we peeled off the stage row by row. After that we went back to our seat up stairs.
